I’ve definitely caught the chunk/dad sneaker bug, you can tell from a lot of my recent purchases; Yeezy Desert Rat, Yeezy Wave Runner and the Nike AF1 by Travis Scott. So out of the blue last month old school sportswear brand FILA released the little known FILA Venom. According to FILA the silhouette is a nod to their popular sneakers in the 90’s, featuring colour blocked panels, suede, leather and mesh materials.
Initially the FILA Venom’s sold out pretty quickly but I managed to grab a red and white colourway from Offspring for the extremely reasonable price of £89.99. What you notice straight away is how light the sneakers are, in comparison to the Wave Runners (which are already light) these feel like air. While the finish doesn’t quite live up to its adidas counterpart in the materials department, this sneaker has an awesome shape and look plus they are very comfortable on feet. I definitely a lot of brands are trying to disrupt the chunky sneaker trend by going more and more unusual, FILA are keeping it simple and to the point and it works very well for them.
I ordered a UK size 9 (usually a 9.5 UK) and they fitted fine so I would recommend buying a half size under your normal, if you can.
