Smart formal shoes are not something I have a lot of in my current wardrobe however as I mentioned on my last post about how to dress like a gentleman I’ve found myself attending more events which require such pieces.
I was approached by the brand Frank Wright and given the chance to review a pair of leather Oxford shoes. I ordered them in a pair of size 9 and when I tried them on they fitted perfectly, visually they are quite understated but throughout the shoe there are some great stitching detail. I wore them for the first time when I attended the Performance Marketing Awards a few weeks ago (where we won 2 awards!) and they looked perfect with my Tuxedo outfit however I do have to be honest and say they weren’t comfortable at all. In fact before I even got to the venue I had to stop off at Boots and buy plasters as I literally couldn’t walk in them any more – by the end of the night I had used a whole pack of plasters and stuffed napkins down the heels. I appreciate some shoes need to be worn in but I’m pretty sure shoes are not meant to cut your heels wide open within 20 minutes. Overall these shoes are well made and look great but make sure you buy the right size and fit otherwise you might find yourself in a lot of pain.
