The timing for a review of a new pair of sunglasses is way off but there’s method behind my madness; personally it’s incredibly difficult to find a pair that actually suit the shape of my head. I have quite a thin face and a broken nose (funny as it sounds it’s true!) which means most sunglasses simply look ridiculous on me. However, recently on a business trip I was delayed for over 4 hours and to pass the time by I visited every shop in the departures lounge. I visited the duty free shop and tried on a number of sunglasses, like most people do, all met with the same recurring disappointment, until I came across the brand Maui Jim – one I’ve never seen before.
I looked through their range and came across a pair which looked similar to aviators (the model number is Gloss Black 421-02 Polarised), I picked them up and the first thing I noticed was just how lightweight they were and when I tried them on I could barely feel them at all. I was pleasantly surprised with how they looked so I decided to buy them (at a reasonable cost of £98), I convinced myself I could wear them next year when the summer returns.
For more information on the brand I took the description below from their website:
Often imitated but never matched, these Maui Jim sunglasses emit an unrivaled sense of style with ease. Featuring a sleek black frames and black arms, as well as 62 mm grey lenses, these celebrated glasses offer premier UV protection as well as serve as a valued accessory option. These sunglasses utilize precision hinges and quality hardware to produce the best possible eyewear, which represents what Maui Jim is all about.
They came with a cool looking carry case and rather bright coloured protecto, take a look at the photos below and let me know what you think.
