Superdry Scuba Zip Hoodie

A few years ago Superdry was a brand I use to buy from on a regular basis but these days I don’t seem to as much (think my day job has something to do with that) – so it was a nice surprise to be offered the chance to review one of their new season “scuba” style hoodies.

I like Superdry’s designs which is probably unsurprising to my regular readers as I like simple designs with bold colours – something that Superdry features quite often. Before I received the package I wasn’t entirely sure what the “Scuba Zip” part of the hoodie was but the paragraph below is taken from their website:

Superdry men’s Scuba zip hoodie. Inspired by wetsuit design, this zip through hoodie is made from bonded fabric, with a drawstring hood and two zipped front pockets. The Scuba zip hoodie is finished with printed chest and shoulder Superdry logo and a Superdry logo tab on the sleeve. Inside, the soft velvet effect lining has been shaped and printed for added Superdry detailing.

When the package arrived (in a nice box WITH tissue paper) I immediately understood the Scuba style – the material resembles that off a wet suit or I guess to point out the obvious a scuba diving suit. I ordered a large even though I’m a big medium because based on experience their sizes are usually a little smaller than usual, when I put the hoodie on it fitted relatively well. Unfortunately the section on the front with the pockets doesn’t look flattering, I think because of the material it stays quite rigid i.e. makes you look a bit fat if you don’t have your hands in the pockets. The inside lining had information on the design and material (which you can see in one of the photos below) which I though was a nice touch and the grey works well with the orange. The hoodie isn’t cheap for the highstreet (around £100) but if you wear it for outdoor use regularly its relatively good value for a coat.
