The Adidas “Boost” range has to go down as one of the most successful in sneaker history, first with Ultra, then Yeezy and now multiple other collaborations with Consortium. While some of the boost range have subtle differences the Consortium “Solebox” uncaged version really stood out to me and I had to get my hands on a pair.
The sneaker is names after a Berlin sneaker shop called Solebox and inspiration for the design, see the quote:
Berlin’s coat of arms as the source of inspiration for the silhouette
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find a pair during the release period as they sold out worldwide within minutes. I resisted from buying on eBay for a month and managed to get a pair for around £400. The shoes come in a metallic purple styled box, different from other boost shoes and featured 2 different lace styles (red and grey). As with all boost sneakers these are very comfortable but feature a thicker inner-sole which offers more support. When you put them on you do notice that these are “uncaged” without the plastic trademark Adidas sides; because my feet are quite wide it actually changes the shape when you wear them, for the worse (this could be my feet, but still..). They look very sharp with the grey and red contrasts and there’s some great design details on the heel and tongue of the shoe. Overall these are a great limited addition to the boost range however I feel they lack the style of the Yeezy range.
